Thank You

Here I would like to acknowledge everyone who has helped me along the way.

Julie Pilitsis, MD, PhD, MBA

I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work in Dr. Pilitsis' lab through the end of her time at AMC. I have learned so much so far and am excited about my future work under her in her new position of  Dean and Vice President of Medical Affairs at Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. Dr. Pilitsis is a true inspiration to women pursuing careers in medicine. I thank her for instilling a love of research in me and I am beyond thankful to be able to learn from her.

Ellinor Grinde, BS and Marisa Dimarzio, PhD

I got my start in DNET through the NextGen Neuroscience program, which is facilitated by Ms. Grinde and Dr. Dimarzio. I had such a great experience with the program, and I have them to thank for creating such an incredible program.

Sarah McCallum, PhD

Dr. McCallum ran multiple sessions of the NextGen program that were focused on professional development, such as writing a personal statement or crafting a CV. Dr. McCallum was extremely generous in helping me with deciding a personal statement topic, revising my end-of-summer presentation, and so much more. I thank her for her time and advice.

Olga Khazen, BS

Olga is one of the clinical research coordinators for Dr. Pilitsis. Olga was one of the first people I met in the Pilitsis lab. She has always been so helpful in forwarding IRB protocols or sending me previous articles to read when I am placed on a new paper. I was also able to interview Olga about her position in February!

Jonathan Bao, BS, Zahabiya Campwala, BS, and Tarun Prabhala, MD, Tessa Harland MD

Jon, Zahabiya, Tessa, and Tarun are all medical students/residents that also work under Dr. Pilitsis. I was fortunate enough to be able to work with each of them on different projects/papers in the Pilitsis lab. They have all taught me so much and have been so patient through my learning curves. I thank them for showing me the ropes and being amazing mentors to me. I could not have done anything without them!
